How long has your company been in business? Since 1945. And how did it start? Founded by Martin Flyer in 1945, the youngest in a family of jewelry manufacturers, Martin Flyer's Viroy Company took its place in the heart of Manhattan's Canal Street. In 1977, the company moved to 48th Street - the center of New York's famed jewelry district. Nearly sixty years after its founding, the company continues to thrive due to the commitment to quality and service passed down by Martin to his son, Gary, and to his grandchildren. What is the reason that you use high purity Platinum in your designs? Because it is pure, rare and eternal.  Because platinum is the highest quality metal available, and highly desired by today's jewelry buyer.  Additionally, the white color of platinum does the best job accentuating the high quality diamonds used in our designs.

What is your inspiration for new designs and who is responsible for them?

Our designs are all about timeless classics.  Jewelry that is stylish, yet not trendy... with a look that can be worn today as well as years in the future.  Our designer is Joshua Kaufman.

How many different designs does your line feature?

Hundreds.

Aside from your great reputation in the industry, are there any awards, honors or accolades have been bestowed on you or your company?

While we don't put ourselves in the running for any formal awards, the greatest honor to us is the fact that many in the industry wear our rings personally.  If you were to be able to get an accurate poll of what brand of engagement ring jewelry store owners, salespeople, magazine editors, writers and trade association people wear, you would find that Martin Flyer stands quite high on that list.  To be the ring of choice for those in the jewelry industry is the highest accolade.

Has anyone famous ever worn a platinum engagement ring or wedding band from your company?

No, but both Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis wore our diamond studs on episodes of Sex & the City.  Additionally, one of our platinum cushion cut diamond necklaces and matching earrings were worn by Tracy Brennan (an agent for Creative Artists Agency representing clients such as Demi Moore, Gwenneth Paltrow, Madonna and Kate Beckingsale) at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards.

What is your goal for the next year?

To increase sales of our FlyerFitT line of bridal jewelry, engagement rings and wedding bands that fit snuggly together without sacrificing the style of the rings.

Fortunoff, Mervis Diamond Importers, Solomon Brothers Fine Jewelry, Shreve & Co., Smyth Jewelers and Borsheim's
