How long has your company been in business? Four generations in the diamond and jewelry industry, Gumuchian has been established in the U.S for 30 years. And how did it start? In the late 70's Anita Gumuchian felt there was a need for fine European style jewelry in the U.S. Myriam and Patricia, while in college, loved the idea of joining their mother in this new project, making classic elegant pieces for the US market.  What is the reason that you use high purity Platinum in your designs? We felt that since we only use the best stones and workmanship we would separate ourselves by using the finest metal around which is Platinum and have been using it, almost exclusively, ever since.

What is your inspiration for new designs and who is responsible for them?

We strive to fuse elegance from antique designs into today's modern trends. We create lasting beauty in a feminine and delicate collection.

We have about 200 designs

Aside from your great reputation in the industry, are there any awards, honors or accolades have been bestowed on you or your company?

WJA 1995 award of excellence in design, several Couture/Town & Country awards over the years, and Myriam became the first woman to become chair of the JIC in 2006.

Has anyone famous ever worn a platinum engagement ring or wedding band from your company?

Rita Wilson bought a Captiva wedding band more than 10 years ago. The ring was purchased at Van Cleef & Arpels in Beverly Hills. Sting's wife Trudy wears one of our best selling diamond hoop earrings that has been in our line since day one and continues to be our # 1 earring today. Brittany Murphy wore some of our bracelets at the Oscar Awards in 2006. In 2004,  Gumuchian designed Giselle Bundchen's heart pendant as part of the Women with Heart program.

What is the greatest platinum proposal story with your engagement rings you've ever heard?

My sister Patricia's recent proposal from my future brother in-law. He had wrapped the platinum ring in aluminum foil and she almost threw it out in the Caribbean Sea.

What is your goal for the next year?

Branding the Gumuchian name in retail stores across the US
